The Base Camp Status Folding Camp Chair is a steel-framed outdoor seat with extra-wide plastic stability feet, built specifically to stay level on sand, grass, and soft ground where narrow chair legs sink and wobble. Rated to a 243 lb load capacity yet weighing only 5.29 lbs, it pairs a supportive 600D tent-fabric seat with a low-profile geometry that keeps its footing on unstable terrain, making it a practical fold chair for beach days, campsites, and lakeside afternoons.
Hand-picked by our gear specialists for the balance it strikes between real durability and packability, this chair folds down to a slim 39.4 x 7.1 x 13.8 inch bundle that slides into a trunk or leans in a tent corner. It is the kind of everyday camp seat you leave set up all weekend and trust to hold up.
Who is the Base Camp Status chair for?
This chair suits campers, beachgoers, and anglers who set up on surfaces that defeat ordinary folding seats. If you have ever watched a standard chair leg disappear into dry sand or tilt on a grassy slope, the wide stabilizing feet are the fix. It is equally at home at a tailgate, a festival, or a backyard fire pit, and the 243 lb capacity covers a wide range of users comfortably.
What is the Base Camp Status chair made of?
The frame combines thin-wall steel tubing for strength with ABS plastic feet and joints that resist cracking and corrosion. The seat and back use 600D fabric, a nylon-polyester weave also used in tents, chosen for its abrasion resistance and fast drying. Together they give the chair a reassuring rigidity when you sit down, without the flimsy flex common to lightweight camp seating.
How does the Base Camp Status chair set up on soft ground?
Setup is a single motion: unfold, and the frame locks into its seating position. On soft ground the broad feet keep all four contact points planted, so you are not constantly shifting to stay level. After a beach day, sand and salt rinse off the fabric and the whole chair collapses flat for transport, ready to reopen the next morning.

Questions & answers
Base Camp Status chair FAQ
How much weight can the Base Camp Status chair hold?
It supports up to 243 lbs. The load rating comes from a thin-wall steel frame reinforced with ABS plastic joints, so it stays sturdy for a wide range of body types while still weighing only 5.29 lbs itself.
Is this chair good for use on sand and soft ground?
Yes, it is designed for exactly that. The wide plastic feet spread the load across a larger area than standard chair legs, which stops them from sinking into sand or soft soil, and the low-profile frame keeps you steady on uneven surfaces.
How small does it fold and how much does it weigh?
It folds to 39.4 x 7.1 x 13.8 inches and weighs 5.29 lbs. That slim collapsed profile fits easily in a car trunk, a tent vestibule, or alongside other gear, and the low weight makes it simple to carry from the car to the site.
Can the seat fabric get wet?
Yes. The seat uses quick-drying 600D tent fabric that resists moisture and dries fast after dew, rain, or spills. Sand and light dirt wipe or rinse off easily, so it recovers well from typical outdoor use.
