The Terra Incognita Krab is a universal pot gripper for camping cookware, an anodized aluminum handle that clamps onto pots, pans, and mugs so you can lift them safely off a stove without built-in handles. Weighing just 42 g (1.48 oz), it uses a secure locking mechanism and an ergonomic grip to give a firm, heat-safe hold on hot cookware. It is the small tool that makes handle-free camp pots practical for backpackers watching every gram.
Terra Incognita is a European outdoor brand with more than 18 years of expedition experience and its own gear production, and the Krab solves a real backcountry problem with one clever part. Many ultralight pots ship without handles to save weight and nest cleanly - the Krab restores a secure grip for all of them, replacing the risk of a folded bandana or a burned hand with a proper locking clamp.
Who needs the Krab Pot Gripper?
The Krab is for backpackers, bikepackers, and solo hikers who run lightweight, handle-free cook pots and need a safe way to lift them off a flame. It is equally useful for anyone with a mixed camp kitchen, since one universal gripper works across different pots, pans, and mugs instead of relying on each piece having its own handle.
What is the Krab Pot Gripper made of?
The gripper is made from anodized aluminum, a treatment that hardens the surface, resists corrosion, and stands up to repeated contact with hot metal. The locking clamp bites onto the pot rim and holds under the weight of a full boil, while the ergonomic handle keeps your fingers at a safe distance from the heat. At 42 g it is barely noticeable in the pack.
How do you use the Krab Pot Gripper?
Clamp the jaws over the rim of your pot or pan, engage the locking mechanism, and lift - the secure grip lets you pour or move hot cookware with control. When you are done, release the clamp, wipe it down, and tuck it inside your nested cook set. Because it is universal, the same tool handles your pot at dinner and your mug at breakfast.
